Labor Day Weekend PDF
With only one trip booked over the weekend, we got lucky with the weather and made it out Sunday.  The strong wind and extrememly high waves from Friday and Saturday had the water flipped over in the channel with 41 degrees underneith the 65 surface water.  Fish followed in the cold water and the channel was loaded.  Catching was not fast and furious, but still productive.   We boxed 6 fish from 7 bites, all mature kings.  That was a pile of fillets from those fish.  High winds continued Monday through Wednesday.  Time will tell if the fish are still at the harbor mouth or have pushed up the river.  As of last weekend, there were still mature fish in deep water that may or may not have pushed up yet.  There continues to be a strong offshore fishery for a mixed bag of steelhead, kings, coho and lake trout.  When conditions are right, the harbor fishing is good to excellent.  We should expect to see good fishing at the harbor for another week or two as well as the offshore fishery.  Last September gave us the best fishing of the season and things are lining up to prove that to be true in 2010 as well.
