Cloudy Day Cloudy Water Lures PDF
Cloudy water luresThese spoons caught a 4 man limit of kings and a laker and coho for customers on May 16 out of South Haven.  Why were these lures succesful?  There are many reasons, but today

we will talk about color selection and water conditions.  This past May in South Haven, we had some serious wind early on and stirred up the water quite a bit.  There is a lot of clay in the area so the water was "chalky" as best I can describe it.  It did clear up each day, but it still had some cloudyness to it.  There was also a definate clearing line, but our fish came inside that line in the cloudier water.  The weather was also cloudy and part time raining that day.  There was some chop on the water, but not bad.  All this adds up to low light conditions in the water.  We fished relatively shallow 80-120 feet of water with a spread of riggers, divers and core.  The first thing I see with all but two of the spoons is that they are LOUD!  The two lures to the far right Superior Sunset (35) and Bloody clown (86) were both HOT behind divers and they both are flat paint jobs with loud color in muddy water.  The divers were also loud, being orange and magnum to disrupt a lot of water.  The two lures on the far left being purple passion (91) and blueberry glow (19) are both great low light lures and I had them deep on the riggers, close in the water column to the large flasher/ fly.  The fly is a seaweed Horse Fly with the Fire Fly insert in it to show up at all depths.  The rest of the lures in the middle of the picture being (from 3rd left to third from right) Evil amil prototype, glow tiger roughy (65), Octoberfeast (49), Glow White tiger (67), and Glow tiger dolphin (64) were spread out between sliders, divers and leadcore.  Granted the fish were biting, but we landed 14 of 23 in 3 hours that day.  We had the right lures in the right part of the water column.  Take a look at these lures and give them a try next time you have cloudy water on a cloudy day!

Happy Customers for sure
