Possible Final trip of 2006 PDF

October 20, 2006

On what my be the final trip of 2006 for Salmonhead, we had a great run.  Check out the fishing report for all the details.  2006 was a great year again.  I caught more fish this year than any other year I have on record.  I fished about the same number of trips as previous years but had more crew on board most of the time to take better advantage of good bites.  2006 also saw the birth of my first child and she is doing great.  All in all a spectacular year.  I look foreward to 2007 with high expectations for the fishery.  The last two trips both saw very full bellies in the fish we cleaned and aggressive feeding.  I feel that if the alewives have a decent winter this year and have high survival rate, we should see good numbers of big fish.  The young fish of 2005 will have had 3 good years of bait after next year to become large mature fish.  Things could be real interesting in 2007.

Anyone that wants to book a trip for 2007, pick a date now!  never too early to book to make sure you get the dates you want.

This picture shows a king from 10/20/06, caught on a lure pattern that should be available from Northport Nailer for the spring shows.  This fish will be looking nice in the spring of next year and with the water still at 56 degrees, there is plenty of time for the younger fish to gorge themselves this fall and fatten up for winter.  Things certianly look encouraging for next year.
