Hit Ludington this weekend with the family. Made it out with my brother for Friday evening fish. We boxed our 6 kings in a flurry of fins and tails at sunset. We finished 6 for 10. Lemon Ice northport took one fish 18 down on a rigger, but after that it was all plugs and flies. Hot rig was Wonderbread Coyote with a Seaweed Firefly by Horse Fly, taking 3 rips. Green and Blue plugs mixed on divers and short 2 and 3 color cores took the rest of the hits.
Saturday morning some friends joined Aaron and myself for a morning run. East winds contunued and the fish were still generally tight to shore. We finished 7 for 14, having a 6 and 7 year old each reeling in a couple fish. The same wonderbread/ Seaweed firefly continued to be strong taking 4 rips. Atomic green glow took one rip, Roughy took 3 rips and a mix of blue or green plugs took the rest. Saturday night we ran out again trhying to get our daily limit and landed only 3 of 9. Plugs ruled, but wonderbread/ seaweed took 2 more rips and blue glow took one. All other rips were on plugs. Sunday morning Just Aaron and I ran out again and finsished 6 of 13 with one coho in the mix. We sat down at 6 and pulled lines at 8:45. 3 more rips on Wonderbread/ seaweed and two more rips on blue glow horsef lies. The rest of the hits were on J plugs. One rip on blue glow and the rest were all on #5 variations in green. Action on both morning trips was strong from shortly after 6 until around 7 or so and then a sharp taper in the bites. Same with the evening runs. Pick away for an hour or so and then a major flurry at dusk. We chased bait balls both evenings and found them by chasing seagulls. We fished as shallow as 17' and bait was solid.
