Final league night for the season last night. There was no question to where we would run for fish... Grand haven channel. So Grayson, Jason and myself hopped aboard the mighty Outdoorsmen boat and ran north or port sheldon. We sat down in the river plume south of the pier and set up our 6 rod spread. First hit on a Mag Silver streak.. Kind of lemon ice glow type thing. Lost that fish. Next rip hit a 11" wonderbread Coyote with a seawead horse fly trailing it. Lost that one too. Then the 2 color with # 5 J rips and we got that one in the boat. The wonderbread took 2 more hits as well as the Silver streak spoon. A 11" white fishcatcher took one with an Atomic Green glow horse fly trailing and a 10" Blue spinnie with seawead horse fly took a shot. We finished 5 for 9 with 63#10oz of fish to weigh. Couldnt get that 6th fish for the weigh in, but it wasnt necessary. We took first place and had largest fish at 17# 10oz. That catch was also good enough to put Team Outdoorsmen/ Salmonhead into the first place spot overall for the season with a decisive 57# margin! Super cold water has circled in to the shoreline with the east winds. Fish are right on the piers at the major rivers. I suspect fish could also be caught deeper, but the large mature fish are on the piers. Get out there while the gettin is good!
