Headed to Manistee on Tuesday in preperation for a charter on Wednesday. Got things set for a slip and headed out fishing. Sat down in the upper 12's and headed south on a zig zag pattern. Only boat on the water! we fished from 65-150 feet of water and picked away at the fish. We caught fish from 107 on inward to 80'. After getting down to the 8's, we turned it back north. We only needed one more fish and hooked up a quad!. Keep in mind, only 6 rods in the water with just myself and my mate. We managed all 4 fish to the boat, but had to kick back 3 of them. Northport nailer spoons ruled. Not a bite on a fly or plug. We had several variations of blue/green dolphin both prototype and market lures all work as well as my facvorite blueberry glow #19. Dolphin glow #61 and sour apple #29 took fish as well. Pretty much anything with blue and green on it worked deep on the sunny day. Fish were down 65-90' in 80-110 fow. Riggerrs near the bottom, divers near the bottom and 13 and 15 colors of lead brought us to land 9 of 12 bites. The 6 fish we weighed tipped the scales at 71# to make for a full cooler.
