Hammer time in Muskegon for salmon and trout |
The fish that were being caught to the south last week have moved up into Muskegon waters. Fishing with two friends yesterday morning we were 21 to the boat for 24 bites in 4 hours. We had to sort out some undersized lakers and kept our 3 man limit. We had a mixed back of lake trout, king salmon and coho salmon. The hot rod was
an 11" E Chip green flasher with a Sea Mist Horse fly with a Greenberry glow Northport Nailer spoon as a fixed slider just above it, then running the whole rig right on the bottom. Three times we took two fish at the same time on one rod with that rig. And that rig accounted for about half our bites for the day. We also caught fish on a couple prototype Nailers in NBH and Green dolphin. Standard spoons like 41G, Dalmation, Key Lime and Sunfire all took fish. Fish were scattered from top to bottom in 125-180 fow for us. |
