Muskegon 7/17 PDF

Had an early morning trip today with Pastors Jim and Cheryl Yerke from Jamestown Babtist Church.  Boy what a fun trip!  Lots of laughs and good times.  Fishing time was shortened a bit due to wave activity, but we still caught 5 fish and had on 7.  Northport nailer spoons accounted for 6 of the 7 bites and the 7th was on a Midnight Horse Fly. Bruiser (31) was indead a bruiser today taking 4 hits.  Three of them were set as a stacked rod off the port rigger about 60 down and one hit on an 11 color leadcore.  Blueberry glow took 2 hits on the 8 color leadcore and a tuxcedo spinnie with a Midnight horse fly trailing took the remaining bite.  Due to waves, we started fishing a bit inside the desired target depth, but once we got there, we lit up 4 quick bites and got 2 to the boat.  Then the next three bites all made it to the boat.  We finished with a nice 11# king and 7# steelie and 3 more nice eater kings.  We worked a north troll, again dictated by the waves and speed was about 2.4 mph cog.  63-70 fow seemed to be best, but after 7:15 we had no more bites. Had the waves been a little kinder, I would have jogged west to deeper water, but the beam troll was killing me and crew.  As we shallowed up and went an hour without a bite, we decided to call it for a better day.  But even under adverse conditions, there were still fish biting.  After this front moves through and things settle down, fishing should be a little easier.

Nice fish from a choppy Muskegon morning
