South Haven 4-20 PDF
Headed to South Haven this morning after low water reports in the river at St Joe scared me out of there.  Not wanting a repeat of damaged props like a trip in 2004, we ramped at South haven and headed out.  Set lines shortly after 8 am in 55 fow and worked SW out to 85 before turning back towards shore to look for coho.  the deeper water shot was to look for some kings, but all we found were lake trout in the 60' range.  We landed and released two, lost another at the back of the boat and lost two more.  After getting to the coho grounds in the shallower water, we put 5 coho and a brown in the boat and lost a few more as well.  Due to time constraints, we didn't re-cross the area we caught most coho, but there seemed to be a decent school of them south of Pallisades in the 20' range.  We took fish on a variety of tackle including several orange type Northport Nailer prototypes, a few on coho flies from Horse Fly and 2 on Brads orange and 2 hits on an orange thunderstick.  We finished 8 for 14 in the end.  Water was flat, light wind at most, and bright bright sun in the face today.  What a great day to be on the water.
