Hammer time in Muskegon for salmon and trout PDF
The fish that were being caught to the south last week have moved up into Muskegon waters.  Fishing with two friends yesterday morning we were 21 to the boat for 24 bites in 4 hours.  We had to sort out some undersized lakers and kept our 3 man limit. We had a mixed back of lake trout, king salmon and coho salmon.  The hot rod was

Southern Slaughter PDF
Fishing just south continues to be a slaughter for the latter part of last week.  The Muskegon area had good to decent fishing on Friday and Saturday, but thinned out Sunday and even slower on Monday.  I expect the upcoming weekend to be gangbusters.  Muskegon anglers are overdue some good numbers so far this season.

4/24 Muskegon Salmon and Trout PDF
Fought the strong offshore winds and managed five nice fish on Saturday.  First king of the season about 13#  and a decent steelhead hit the cooler and three really nice lake trout (up to 15#) had to swim free since the season is closed until May 1.  Northport Nailer spoons took all the fish.  Easter Egg glow (48) set 25 down on the rigger took 2 lakers, Mixed veggie (47) set 20 down on the rigger took the King, Mashed Bannana (11) on the 3 color took the steelhead and BOG (black/ orange on Gold) took the last laker on the 5 color. Fish seemed to be in the 40 foot range within a mile of the pier heads.  Water temp ranged from 42-46 and change.  The wind made boat control a little tricky at times and I had to cut the spread down from 18 rods to 17 rods.

4/18/10 PDF
After doing some routine maintanece, I had half hour to kill and made one pass in front.  Caught a nice little brown on  a northport Orange Ice Gold (41G) on the slide diver.  He tasted good for dinner tonight.

Walleye Attack PDF
Jumped on board with buddies last night and we hit the pier heads past the beach line looking for walleye.  We landed 4 out of 5 hooked.  Typical post spawn walleye program.  Big body baits, salmon rods, salmon reels and salmon line.  They are not real shy this time of year.  Strictly a night time affair past the beach line into lake Michigan.  After the season opens up, we can get after them in Muskegon lake as well.  Still a nighttime affair.

muskegon 3/26 PDF
After much debate, the crew voted for heading to Muskegon to try for some perch.  After the boat splashed down and got squared away in the slip, we headed out.  It was just too nice not to try for salmonids so
